Lessons from Other Nations
TRB Special Report 300
This new report, from the Transportation Research Board, explores the reasons why several high-income nations have achieved better highway safety records than the United States and recommends best practices from abroad that would fit in the U.S. context. The report examines traffic safety program management practices, risk reduction techniques, and the sources of public and political support for safety interventions.
These series of briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on November 16, 2010 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web sites of the Transportation Research Board and the National Academies Press.
