Expanding Underrepresented Minority Participation:
America's Science and Technology Talent at the Crossroads

Requested by Congress in P.L. 110-69, this new National Academies report explores the role of diversity in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) work force on American innovation and competitiveness. The report analyzes the rate of change and the challenges the nation currently faces in developing a strong and diverse STEM work force, along with best practices and the characteristics that make these practices effective and sustainable.

These series of briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on September 30, 2010 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
