Provision of Mental Health Counseling Services Under TRICARE

Requested by Congress in P.L. 110-181, this new report from the Institute of Medicine makes recommendations for permitting independent practice for mental health counselors treating patients within TRICARE – the Department of Defense’s health care benefits program.

These series of briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on February 12, 2010 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
