A Review of the DOE Plan for U.S. Fusion Community Participation in the ITER Program
Requested by Congress in P.L. 109-58 (Energy Policy Act of 2005) this new report examines whether the Department of Energy plan provides a good initial outline for effective participation of U.S. scientists in research at ITER. The program aims to create and understand burning plasma, essentially the same energy source that drives the sun, for sustained periods in the laboratory.
These series of briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on July 29, 2008 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
