Redesigning the Process for Establishing the Dietary Guidelines for Americans

This new report, from the National Academies, is the second of two requested by Congress in P.L. 114-113 regarding the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs). It recommends changes to the DGA process to reduce and manage sources of bias and conflicts of interest, improve timely opportunities for engagement by all interested parties, enhance transparency, and strengthen the science base of the process. The first report can be found here.

These briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on September 14, 2017 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
