Evaluation of the Disability Determination Process
for Traumatic Brain Injury in Veterans

Requested by Congress in P.L. 114-315, this new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and reviews the process by which the Veterans’ Administration assesses impairments resulting from traumatic brain injury for purposes of awarding disability compensation. This report also provides recommendations for legislative or administrative action for improving the adjudication of veterans’ claims seeking entitlement to compensation for all impairments arising from a traumatic brain injury.

These briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on April 10, 2019 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
