Dr. David Satcher

Dr. David Satcher served a full 4-year-term as the Surgeon General of the United States from February 13, 1998 through 2002. He served simultaneously as Surgeon General and Assistant Secretary for Health from February 1998 through January 2001.
From 1993 through 1998 he also held the posts of Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.
Currently, Satcher is the director of the National Center for Primary Care at the Morehose School of Medicine.
