National Academies Offices
Board on Science, Technology and Economic Policy ~ studies the contributions of science and technology to economic performance and the policies influencing science and technology advances. Work includes studies of trade, intellectual property, R&D, tax, education and training, standards and other policies as well as the adequacy of data on science and technology investments and innovation.
Center for Economic, Governance, and International Studies ~ addresses the nation’s most pressing problems, using the knowledge, analytical tools and methods of the behavioral and social sciences. Its four standing committees –- the Committee on the Human Dimensions of Global Change; Committee on Law and Justice; and Committee on Population and the Committee on Monitoring International Labor Standards –- engage the country’s leading social and behavioral scientists.
Committee on National Statistics ~ contributes to a better understanding of important national issues by working to improve the statistical methods and information on which public policy decisions are based.
Committee on Science, Engineering and Public Policy ~ conducts studies on cross-cutting issues in science and technology policy.
Computer Science and Telecommunications Board ~ provides independent assessments of technical and public policy issues relating to computing and communications.
Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable ~ provides a politically neutral forum for experts from government, universities and industry to discuss current issues of interest involving science and technology.
Science, Technology and Law Program ~ brings together the science and engineering community and the legal community on a regular basis to explore pressing issues, to improve communication and to help resolve issues between the two communities.
Small Business Innovation Research Program ~ provides information relevant to the current National Academy of Sciences research project on the SBIR programs of five major federal agencies: the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, NASA, National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation.
