April 23 - April 23 -- Today is the 10th annual World Book and Copyright Day, a day promoting reading, publishing, and the protection of intellectual property through copyright. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which established the day, chose April 23 because it was on that date in 1616 that authors Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega died.
