Members Win Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics


October 10, 2005 -- National Academy of Sciences members Robert J. Aumann and Thomas C. Schelling won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for their work in game theory. Schelling is also a member of the Institute of Medicine. Researchers use game theory to analyze how groups work strategically and apply this knowledge to a broad range of situations such as bidding wars and disarmament policies.
