To inform the discussion at the upcoming Rio+20 United Nations Conference, this 2-hour online event focuses on the critical role health plays in sustainable development. Through presentations and discussions, it is expected that participants and viewers will: gain a better understanding of the impact of health on economic growth, discuss appropriate health-related indicators and goals of sustainable development, and identify how to incorporate health into decisions that will be made at the 2012 Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development.

The members of the Roundtable on Environmental Health Sciences, Research, and Medicine are encouraging individuals and organizations to submit health-related goals that will be critical to the world’s future sustainable development. These goals should have a clear health focus, be measurable and action-oriented, address broad challenges (e.g., climate change and energy security), allow for national and regional assessment/capabilities, and help to set a clear post-Rio+20 agenda. These goals will be shared with PAHO, WHO, and other partners for further consideration. Please visit the survey site to learn more and submit your suggestions (you can use the text box or upload a PDF or Word document on the survey site).
