With the expiration of the Millennium Development Goals in 2015, the global community witnessed grand strides in the health and well-being of people worldwide. Building of this momentum is a global commitment to Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Though countries are increasing access to health care to meet this commitment, there has not been a similar emphasis on improving the quality of care. As of yet, the world's poorest and most marginalized do not have access to high quality care. Unless there is a deliberate effort to improve the quality of health care services globally, UHC will prove to be an empty vessel.
Join the Board on Global Health, the Board on Health Care Services, and the Committee on Improving the Quality of Health Care Globally to learn more about the burden and consequences of poor quality health care worldwide, promising system-wide solutions to facilitate quality improvements, and priorities for advancing quality improvement globally.
Committee Members will discuss the report's recommendations, including an aspirational vision for health care systems as they adopt emerging digital health technologies and a targeted research agenda for increased knowledge on health care quality and quality improvement.
