On Tuesday, July 17th from 1 to 2 pm Eastern time, members of the Institute of Medicine Committee on Geographic Adjustment Payment will discuss the findings and recommendations from the committee’s new report entitled Geographic Adjustment in Medicare Payment Phase II:  Implications for Access, Quality, and Efficiency. Speakers will include

  • Bruce Steinwald, MBA, a health care financing expert and independent consultant in Washington, DC;
  • Stephen Zuckerman, PhD, an economist and Senior Fellow at the Urban Institute in Washington, DC;
  • and Joanne Pohl, PhD, FAAN, FAANP, a health services researcher and nurse practitioner from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. 

The presentations will address the results and policy implications of payment simulations conducted to assess the impact of the committee’s previous recommendations about improving the accuracy of Medicare payments to hospitals and physicians.
