Advancing Health Through Innovation
Health care today is faced with monumental challenges: millions of uninsured individuals; highly variable quality of care; and continually rising health care costs. At the same time, significant scientific discoveries, technological advances, and medical breakthroughs are occurring at a phenomenal pace. Despite this progress, alarming health care trends and disparities attest to the need for more effective and focused interventions. Given this climate of formidable adversity, transformative opportunity and pressing necessity, now is the time for the health sciences community to think out of the box. The goal of this annual meeting was to stimulate dialogue on the dimensions and critical elements of innovation, and how to foster it and ensure its effective deployment to improve health.
