The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine formed a committee of subject matter experts in the scientific, technical, and medical professions for a consensus study titled “Strengthening the Disaster Resilience of Academic Research Communities.” The committee explored the effects of disasters on the academic research community (i.e., biological and biomedical) and produced a report that describes the extent of the impact of prior disasters on that community and recommendations and guidance for individual researchers, research institutions, and sponsoring agencies regarding potential actions to be taken that can mitigate the impact of future disasters on research facilities, reagents, and animals.

Members of the committee will present the findings and recommendations from the report during a public release webinar scheduled for Thursday, August 10, at 2:00PM EST. A link to register for this event is located on the right hand side of this page.
