Roughly 3 million children and 114,000 functionally impaired adults and other adults over age 60 received meals and snacks at day care facilities through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in 2010. Child and Adult Care Food Programs: Aligning Dietary Guidance for All, a new report from the Institute of Medicine, recommends changes to bring CACFP’s meal requirements into line with current nutrition science and dietary guidelines. The report will be released with a one-hour telephone briefing on Thursday, Nov. 4.
