• Next Steps: Implementation Workshop on Standards for Systematic Reviews and Clinical Practice Guidelines Date: May 10, 2011 - May 11, 2011 (8:15 AM Eastern)

In early 2011, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) will release two consensus reports: “Finding What Works in Health Care: Standards for Systematic Reviews” and “Clinical Practice Guidelines We Can Trust.” These reports were produced following a congressional mandate in the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 for two independent studies: one to develop standards for conducting systematic reviews and the other to develop standards for clinical practice guidelines. The IOM committees are hosting a 1.5 day workshop that will include a series of presentations and panel discussions on the reports' standards and recommendations. The goals of the workshops are to: provide an opportunity for stakeholders to learn about, react to, and discuss the IOM reports; identify what actions stakeholders need to take to implement the standards and highlight what barriers exist to implementation; and promote stakeholder collaboration to implementing the recommended standards.
