The National Academies of Medicine, the Association of Schools and Programs for Public Health, and Emory University are hosting a global health symposium to discuss recently released National Academies’ reports and experiences in the Atlanta region during the 2014 Ebola outbreak. Global Harmonization of Methodological Approaches to Nutrient Intake Recommendations: A Workshop

The Food and Nutrition Board, in partnership with the Department of Nutrition for Health and Development of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Nutrition Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), will convene an ad hoc committee to plan and organize a workshop to explore questions about the uses of nutrient intake recommendations, the frameworks used for their development, the status of nutrient intake recommendations globally, and experiences and expertise in methodological approaches.

The ad hoc committee will be meeting in-person and attending the workshop, Methodological Approaches to Global Harmonization of Nutrient Intake Recommendations, in Rome, Italy. The committee will be using the evidence presented and discussions that take place in the workshop to use a case-study approach to demonstrate the application of a methodological approach for deriving nutrient intake recommendations using a selected nutrient and generate recommendations for methodological approaches to achieve a uniform and consistent basis for setting nutrient intake recommendations for young children and women of child-bearing age across countries.
Examining the Impact of Real-World Evidence on Medical Product Development: A Workshop Series | Workshop 1: Incentives

An ad hoc committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) will plan and conduct a three-part workshop series to be held over the course of a two-year period. As part of FDA's continued focus on building a national governance system for evidence generation, the proposed focus of these workshops will be on the generation and utilization of real-world evidence to evaluate efficacy, effectiveness, tolerability, and safety for both review of new indications and postapproval studies.
