The Role of NIH in Drug Development Innovation and Its Impact on Patient Access: Proceedings of a Workshop

On July 24–25, 2019, the Board on Health Care Services and the Board on Health Sciences Policy of the National Academies jointly hosted a public workshop in Washington, DC to explore the role of NIH in drug development innovation and its impact on patient access. An ad hoc committee was appointed to invite individuals with a range of expertise and experiences, including basic and translational biomedical research, drug development and commercialization, health economics, research funding, patient advocacy, health care policy, and science policy to speak at the workshop and participate in the discussions.
