Review of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Smallpox Vaccination Program Implementation: Letter Report 6

In this report, the committee discusses some of the challenges and opportunities likely to arise as public health preparedness is being integrated into the broader field of emergency and disaster preparedness, and makes several recommendations about the importance of interagency collaboration for public health preparedness, the need to learn from existing research and practical experience from diverse fields, and the need to continuously improve performance in public health preparedness.

The report also reviews what has been learned from disaster research and disaster practice, and from other preparedness-related activities that are occurring in the federal government.
