Applying a Health Lens to Business Practices, Policies, and Investments is a summary of a workshop convened by the Institute of Medicine’s Roundtable on Population Health Improvement on June 4, 2015. The workshop followed previous workshops held in 2013 and 2014, respectively, on Applying a Health Lens to Decision Making in Non-Health Sectors and Business Engagement in Building Healthy Communities. The workshop, focused on applying a health lens to decisions made in the private sector, featured presentations from leaders representing a variety of businesses, public-private partnerships, and social enterprises. The workshop was designed to bring attention the huge array of levers that the private sector can pull to improve health and economic well-being in communities and to provide a platform for discussing how to promote and support health in all business practices, policies, and investments. This report summarizes the presentations and discussions from this workshop.
