Work ExperienceOur values define what we stand for as an organization and as individuals. They guide our behaviors and form the foundation of our commitments to our customers, volunteers, members, employees and communities.
The National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine and National Research Council are great organizations that make up the National Academies with legacies that we are all proud to embrace.
Today, our mission continues to address the challenges facing our nation and our role continues to expand with many global implications. Total Rewards is a framework that pulls together the various ways the National Academies value our employees’ contribution and the important role they play in our work.
While we cannot measure the intangible value of work experience, we recognize that we all have unique needs, different work styles and preferences. Many of us are challenged by our continuously changing priorities in our professional and personal life.
We respect the personal worth and dignity of all our employees. We promote a work environment supporting diversity, equal opportunity and learning. We recognize and value people for their individual skills, knowledge, abilities, experiences and contributions.
We often hear throughout the National Academies that we are unique. We are and so is our work! There are not many places where you can work along side a Nobel prizewinner in a committee or discuss topics with a world-renowned research leader. Even if employees do not have this direct contact, each employee contributes every day to our ability to impact policy decisions and direction for our nation.
