Action Needed to Slow Spread of HIV Among Injection Drug Users

September 15 -- Countries where HIV/AIDS rates are escalating because of injection drug use should act immediately to slow the spread of infection, says a new report from the Institute of Medicine. When used in a multifaceted approach, many interventions have been shown to be effective in curbing risky drug-related behaviors, but each affected nation will have to determine the best combination for its circumstances.
