NAE Announces Award Winners

October 11 -- Shu Chien, professor of bioengineering and medicine at the University of California, San Diego, will receive NAE’s Founders Award for groundbreaking work leading to the development of the biomedical engineering profession. Chauncey Starr, president emeritus of the Electric Power Research Institute, will receive the Bueche Award for contributions to the fields of nuclear power and risk analysis. The National Academy of Engineering will present the two awards at its annual meeting on Sunday, Oct. 15.
