Possible Link Between Military Service and Lou Gehrig's Disease

November 10 -- A limited number of studies suggest an association between military service -- including in the Gulf War -- and later development of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a rare but fatal disorder also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, according to a new report from the Institute of Medicine. Because there are so few studies, more research is needed to confirm this link.
