April 8, 2009 -- Diplomats, scientists, and others gathered at the National Academy of Sciences this week to celebrate the closing of International Polar Year and learn about some of the early accomplishments. Six top polar scientists provided overviews of initial IPY research findings, and all noted the importance of international scientific collaborations. The event was co-hosted by NAS and the National Science Foundation.
