Priorities Recommended for Update of National Vaccine Plan

December 11, 2009 -- Officials updating the National Vaccine Plan should prioritize efforts to eliminate financial barriers to immunization, tackle unmet vaccine needs, and boost funding for safety research and communications, says a new report from the Institute of Medicine. An effective strategic plan for immunization is vital given the important role of vaccines in protecting Americans’ health and complexity of the nation's immunization system, which involves multiple agencies and stakeholders.
