Winners of Essay Contest Announced

May 28, 2010 -- The National Academy of Engineering announced the winners of its 2010 EngineerGirl! national essay contest. Competitors were asked to come up with imaginative uses of engineering to survive if lost in a forest. Winning essays included the development of practical tools such as smoke signals, paper boats, drums, whistles, and a system to gather, filter, and purify water.
