African Academies Meeting Ends With Call For Greater Use of Science in Policymaking

November 19 -- Participants at the third annual African Science Academy Development Initiative conference in Dakar, Senegal, issued a declaration at their closing ceremony calling for stronger links between science and decision-making in Africa, particularly in support of water-related policies. The initiative, a partnership between the U.S. National Academies and several African science academies, aims to boost the ability of the African academies to inform public policy with evidence-based advice.
