November 26 -- Urging prompt redress of the situation faced by prisoners at Guantanamo Bay naval facility in Cuba, the Committee on Human Rights of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and Institute of Medicine today reiterated its standing request to the U.S. government for information on select detainees held there. The committee has intervened for more than a quarter century in behalf of scientists, engineers, and health professionals around the world who are not treated in accordance with international human rights standards.
