TRB Webinar: COVID-19 Impacts on Managed Lanes

June 25, 2020

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (EDT)

Past

The response to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has had unprecedented impacts on the economy of the United States, particularly with regard to travel demand. TRB hosted a webinar on Thursday, June 25, 2020, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Eastern that discussed the effects that stay-at-home orders and the lack of traffic congestion have had on the operations of priced managed lanes facilities. Presenters discussed how the decline in vehicle miles traveled (VMT) gas use affected operations and revenues. They also discussed how VMT declines have changed their short-term business management practices, customer service, and traffic management operations. This webinar provided actionable ideas for ways managed lane operations can plan to return to service and discussed what the lasting impacts may be in terms of travel behavior, including future managed lanes plans and projects.
This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Committee on Managed Lanes.
