A project along stretch of I-85 in Georgia referred to as “The Ray” aims to implement a regenerative mobility ecosystem by integrating the highway structure and highway operations as seamlessly as possible with the surrounding landscape and land use. TRB hosted a webinar on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 2:00-3:30 PM Eastern that highlighted a programmatic approach to roadside design and management. The Ray, an 18-mile research corridor of I-85 in Georgia, has created a regenerative mobility ecosystem by integrating the highway structure and highway operations as seamlessly as possible with the surrounding landscape and land use. The presenter went over life cycle roadside vegetation management planning and execution. He focused on the resulting research and data through a series of case study projects within The Ray. The webinar also discussed the practice of installing and maintaining green technology as part of the roadside landscape.

This webinar was organized by the Standing Technical Committee on Roadside Maintenance Operations.
