An expert committee under the National Academies Board on Research Data and Information will conduct a study that examines current efforts to develop advanced and automated workflows for scientific research. The committee's primary information gathering will consist of a workshop that examines the status of research workflows in several example fields, key barriers and enablers, and emerging opportunities. Based on insights from the workshop, a review of the literature, and other inputs, the committee will produce a consensus report that identifies research needs and priorities in the use of advanced and automated workflows for scientific research.
