The NASEM and the Simons Foundation will conduct a pilot summer institute on data science for science and societal advancement in Lviv, Ukraine, in August 2023. The institute will provide practice-oriented knowledge in the field of data science to a group of up to 40 PhD and early career researchers residing inside Ukraine.

The NAS, the Simons Foundation, and the Ukrainian Catholic University teamed up to offer a weeklong summer institute on data science and applications for 50 early career researchers in Ukraine. The experience provided a rare chance for the researchers to focus on career development and networking during the war.
