Evaluation of Bioburden Requirements for Mars Missions
This new report, from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, identifies criteria for determining locations on Mars potentially suitable for landed robotic missions that satisfy less stringent bioburden requirements, which are intended to manage the risk of forward contamination.
This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on October 7, 2021 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
