Description

An ad hoc committee will plan, organize, and implement a one-day public workshop to explore the role of drug control policies on the health of individuals and communities of color. The committee will define the specific topics to be addressed, develop the agenda, select and invite speakers, and moderate discussions during the workshop. Topics for discussion may include how current drug control policies influence the health outcomes of individuals and communities of color who experience mass incarceration, and strategies to mitigate adverse health outcomes, for example, harm reduction programs, the role of drug courts in mitigating sentencing outcomes, and community-based interventions to reduce drug-related crimes and arrests. A proceedings of the presentations and discussions at the workshop will be prepared by a designated rapporteur in accordance with institutional guidelines.
