In response to the release of Special Report 314: The Federal Aviation Administration’s Approach for Determining Future Air Traffic Controller Staffing Needs (June 13, 2014),FAA has requested that TRB convene two expert meetings. The first meeting will be held to (a) provide FAA with an opportunity to ask selected members of the SR 314 report committee and other experts questions about the committee’s findings and recommendations to improve FAA’s staffing models and (b) to describe FAA’s initial plans for responding to the committee’s recommendations.

In response to the release of Special Report 314: The Federal Aviation Administration’s Approach for Determining Future Air Traffic Controller Staffing Needs (June 13, 2014),FAA has requested that TRB convene two expert meetings. The first meeting will be held to (a) provide FAA with an opportunity to ask selected members of the SR 314 report committee and other experts questions about the committee’s findings and recommendations to improve FAA’s staffing models and (b) to describe FAA’s initial plans for responding to the committee’s recommendations. A second meeting would be held roughly 9 months later for FAA to report on progress, issues encountered, and to seek guidance from individual experts. Experts would provide their perspectives as individuals; no NRC report or recommendations would be issued.
