What are some advantages to using castings in complex connections of steel bridges? TRB hosted a webinar on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 1:00-2:30 PM Eastern that discussed material properties and design considerations of cast nodes on bridges. Presenters identified the potential for castings on steel bridges and compared the performance and durability of these castings to welded assemblies. They described applications for cast nodes in order for engineers to use them to improve bridge connections and provide a case study of a bridge that used cast nodes.

This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Technical Committee on Steel Bridges.
