Review of the Long-Term Bridge Performance Program: Expert Task Group for Bridge Traffic and Truck Weights

Completed

Description

The Expert Task Group (ETG) for Bridge Traffic and Truck Weights is a subcommittee that is separately constituted for the purpose of providing input to the parent committee reviewing the Long-Term Bridge Performance (LTBP) Program of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The LTBP Program is a 20+-year research effort to monitor the performance of a nationally representative sample of highway bridges. This expert task group (ETG) will review of those aspects of the planning and implementation of this research effort that pertain to the measurement of the traffic loadings to which these bridges are subjected. The issues to be addressed by this ETG would include the appropriate performance parameters to measure; the appropriate measuring equipment; the positioning, installation, calibration, and maintenance of this equipment; and the frequency of data collection. The technical deliberations and findings of this ETG will be provided as input for consideration by the parent committee when preparing its series of letter reports.
