Preventing Bullying Through Science, Policy, and Practice
This new report, from the National Academies, assesses the state of the science on the biological and psychosocial consequences of peer victimization for both the perpetrator and target, and the factors that either increase or decrease bullying behavior and consequences. The report includes recommendations to help inform future policies by state legislatures and school districts, practices for school safety, disciplinary actions, health care provisions, and law enforcement, as well as recommendations for future research on approaches to reduce peer victimization.
This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on May 10, 2016 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
