Driving Progress in Obesity Prevention and Treatment: Moving to the Next Level: A Workshop

Completed

Have we begun to tip the scales towards achieving a healthy weight for all Americans? What are the most promising opportunities and best bets that will drive future progress and action in obesity prevention and treatment?

Description

An ad hoc committee will plan and conduct a one-day public workshop that will focus on moving to the next level in solving the obesity crisis. The workshop will comprise individual invited workshop speakers’ assessments of where the nation is in the obesity epidemic and the levers that could drive significant progress in obesity prevention and treatment. The workshop agenda will also include discussion on the gaps that can be filled through cross sector collaborations of federal and local government, academia, health care institutions and professionals, the education and early child care communities, industry, and foundations and nonprofits.
The committee will define the specific topics to be addressed, develop the agenda, and select and invite speakers and other participants. After the workshop, a brief workshop summary and full workshop summary of the event will be prepared by a designated rapporteur in accordance with institutional guidelines.
