Transportation projects require significant investments of funds and resources. Costs include project scope and development, environmental review and mitigation, preliminary engineering, right-of-way utilities, final design, and public engagement. TRB hosted a webinar on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Eastern that presented improved processes for setting and maintaining project development budgets through improvements in estimation, risk management, and tracking of project development costs.

This webinar featured research from NCHRP Domestic Scan 21-03: Successful Approaches to Setting Project Development Budgets.

  1. Identify methods, tools, and processes for estimating, risk management, budgeting, and tracking the cost of project development for transportation projects

  2. Establish and manage budgets for program delivery using methods and tools implemented by other states
