Education Policies and Programs to Reduce Intergenerational Poverty
Aug. 1
This event will highlight findings from a recent National Academies report on reducing intergenerational poverty and evidence-based insights on the pivotal role education policies and programs can play in curbing long-term cycles of poverty. 

Climate Conversations: The Future of Sports
Aug. 29
Changing climate conditions are making some environments inhospitable to training and competition, with some sports at risk of disappearing altogether in affected regions. Extreme weather events pose risks to the performance and health of athletes at all levels. At this conversation, experts will explore the climate risks that sports are facing, such as heat-related illnesses and air pollution from wildfires; health challenges and equity issues for athletes and communities; and measures that can be taken to protect the future of sports. 

Identifying Midlife Social Exposures that Might Modify Risk for Cognitive Impairment
Aug. 29 and 30
Early life disadvantages have been associated with a higher risk of dementia, but the risk may be modified by early life and midlife exposures. This workshop will examine what measures, data infrastructure needs, and analytic measures can advance understanding of how midlife social exposures can address early life risk factors.

Release dates for the following consensus reports and proceedings from the National Academies depend on successful completion of the review process and publishing schedules. Improving Access to Behavioral Health Care Services through Medicare, Medicaid, and Marketplace Plans

A new report examines challenges in accessing care for mental health or substance use disorder issues because of limited behavioral health practitioner participation in Medicare, Medicaid, and Health Insurance Marketplace insurance programs. The report will review barriers to practitioner participation and make recommendations to address those barriers.
