Ad hoc committee overseen by Laboratory Assessments Board, appointed to provide biennial assessments of scientific, technical quality at Army Research Laboratory (ARL). Assessments include findings, recommendations related to quality of ARL's research, development, analysis programs. Primary role is provide peer assessment, but may offer advice on related matters when requested by ARL Director. ARLTAB provides interim report end of Year 1 of each 2-year assessment cycle and final report biennially. ARLTAB assisted by up to seven separately appointed panels that focus on portions of ARL program. Yearly, 3 additional panels may be appointed to assess special topics per ARL Director.

Description
An ad hoc committee to be named the Army Research Laboratory Technical Assessment Board (ARLTAB), to be overseen by the Laboratory Assessments Board, will be appointed to continue the function of providing annual assessments of the scientific and technical quality of the Army Research Laboratory (ARL). These assessments will include findings and recommendations related to the quality of ARL's research, development, and analysis programs. While the primary role of the ARLTAB is to provide peer assessment, it may offer advice on related matters when requested by the ARL Director. The ARLTAB will provide assessments over a four-year cycle. Each year three “competencies” for which ARL is responsible will be assessed. The ARLTAB will produce in each of those years a consensus report that provides an assessment of a portion of ARL's program.
