The National Academies’ Board on Life Sciences is pleased to present a series of discussions on issues related to the life sciences. The discussions will be used to guide future activities of the Board. We invite you to join us for one, two, three, or all of the sessions.

Session #1. Inequities in the Life Sciences: Understanding the Issues

How do such factors as gender, race, and socioeconomic level affect educational, research, and career opportunities in the life sciences? This session will explore consequences associated with inequities in the life sciences, needs for preventing societal injustices, and opportunities for addressing those needs.

This session will explore short and long-term consequences of the pandemic on life science research, education and training, career progression as a first step to examining resiliency within the life science research enterprise.
