Please join the National Academies Space Studies Board (SSB) and Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board (ASEB) members on Wednesday, February 17 at 11:30 am to 12:45 pm to hear about the journey to Mars’ Jezero Crater for NASA’s Perseverance Rover (Mars 2020) scheduled to touch down February 18.
We will hear introductory remarks from NASA Science Mission Directorate (SMD) Associate Administrator Thomas Zurbuchen and SMD Planetary Science Division Director Lori Glaze. We will then hear about the plans for returning a Mars sample to Earth from Bobby Braun, Mars Sample Return Program Manager, Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL); a description of challenges overcome by the Mars 2020 team from Matt Wallace, Deputy Project Manager, Mars 2020, JPL; and science expectations from Katie Stack Morgan, Deputy Project Scientist, Mars 2020, JPL.
