Low-volume road construction can benefit from using geosynthetics. TRB hosted a webinar on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 2:00-3:30 PM Eastern that discussed the current state of knowledge regarding the use of geosynthetics in road construction. Presenters identified long-term benefits of geosynthetics by highlighting a case study from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). They discussed the application, specification, and life cycle cost analysis of geotextiles for layer separation in low-volume pavements. They also enumerated guidelines for implementing use of geotextiles.
