Recognizing the public health emergency posed by opioid overdoses, there increasingly have been calls for a comprehensive approach to drug policy that includes a focuses on reducing harm for people who use drugs (PWUD). This virtual public workshop explored data collection efforts, evidence gaps, and research needs on harm reduction services for PWUD. The workshop examined harm reduction services that aim to: prevent overdose and infectious disease transmission; enhance the health, safety, and wellbeing of PWUD; and offer low-threshold options for accessing substance use disorder treatment.
