Publication - Book by PSA Science Communication Working Group: "Communicating Science to the Public: Opportunities and Challenges for the Asia-Pacific Region"*

"Communicating Science to the Public: Opportunities and Challenges for the Asia-Pacific Region," authored by PSA Science Communication Working Group leaders Professor Leo Tan and Professor R. Subramaniam (Singapore National Academy of Sciences), explores effective approaches for communicating science to the public in developing countries. The book features 17 chapters representing the efforts of 23 authors from eight countries: Australia, Bangladesh, India, Ireland, New Zealand, USA, Singapore and South Africa. The book highlights many of the challenges that science communicators, science policy makers, science teachers, and university academics in the sciences face in their attempts to boost science literacy levels in their countries. The book also shares some best practices from the developed world. The book was supported by the Pacific Science Association, and contains a Foreword by PSA Past President Nancy Lewis.

Event - 24th Pacific Science Congress*

The Pacific Science Association is scheduled to hold its 24th Pacific Science Congress on July 13-17, 2020 in Shantou, China.The theme is “Articulating Visions of Sustainability in Asia and the Pacific.” Abstracts are being accepted. The meeting will be hosted by Shantou University, the China Association of Science and Technology, and PSA. PSA and the local meeting organizers are well aware of the many current restrictions on travel to China due to the coronavirus The situation is being monitored carefully, and more information will be posted as it becomes available.
