The Academy's 157th Annual Meeting will take place online from Saturday, April 25 through Monday, April 27, 2020. Sessions on Saturday and Sunday will be open to the public and webcast live.

Highlights include: an update on the COVID-19 pandemic, new approaches to solving the plastics dilemma, attracting and retaining a diverse workforce, discovering and imaging black holes, advances in bee health, regional and global impacts of thawing Arctic permafrost, a symposium on grand challenges in science, and a talk by author Carl Zimmer on "She Has Her Mother's Laugh: The Powers, Perversions, and Potential of Heredity." The program also features NAS President Marcia McNutt's annual address to members and presentation of the National Academy of Sciences awards for outstanding achievements in science.
